The last and final touch is here and she’s a good one—VINTAGE POSTCARDS.
ICYMI – I’m making a little retro motel-style basket for my parents’ house for their guest bedroom. It has all the vintage vibes and has been seriously easy to put together!
This one’s a gem and, dare I say—the easiest one of all! Like the first tutorial for the matchbooks, pretty much all you need are some Avery products and a printer (+ a little creativity!)
The focal point of my parents’ house is their amazing backyard. I thought I would showcase this on a little postcard and add a few touches to make it feel like it really came from an old motel.
A SUPPLY LIST FEELS KIND OF SILLY, BUT HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
- Avery postcards
- Printer
First I chose a good photo of my parents’ backyard.
I then popped it in some kind of free editing app (I may have even just used Instagram!) and put a vintage filter over it. Since we’re going for the vintage vibe, the quality of the photo you export really doesn’t have to be great! We really want a grainy feel here.
I then used the template on Avery’s website to drop in my photo and design my postcard right there in their application.
For the front of the card, I just did the photo and the logo. For the back, I wrote a little blurb “promoting” their house, like you would find on an old destination postcard. This part was the most fun, because I got to personalize it and poke fun at my dad! I then added some touches to make it look like a real postcard!
I paid to get these printed at my local office supply shop, because I was so incredibly under-budget on this project. However, you could definitely print them at home because, like I said, the quality doesn’t have to be top notch here.
And then I punched them out and added them to the little trays I made with all the motel goodies!
Y’all, I am not exaggerating when I say I am OBSESSED with how these turn out. We literally never host guest because there is no extra room at my house, but I WANT THIS NOW. Add in a little wifi password card and you have the sweetest welcome basket!
We were created to be creative, friends—so get creating!
