Picture this: its 8:30 PM on the eve of your child’s last day. You’re exhausted from a week’s worth of “class festivities” (read: more work for mom + dad) and dreading the end of the school year so much that you honestly forgot to do anything special for the last day. Enter: END OF YEAR FLAGS.
Low Effort + High Reward = My Kind of Crafting
That’s exactly what these little end-of-year flags are! Y’all can check out my reel to see just how simple it is–but guys, I’VE MADE IT EVEN EASIER.
I love a quick hand-lettered craft cause that is my forte. But I knowwwwww that loads of y’all see the handwriting part and think, “Crap. Absolutely not.” So I also made a printable version for ya. No shame, and you’re welcome!
The printed versions will be slightly smaller than the one in my post, but essentially the same! And I made flags for Pre-K 2 all the way through Fifth Grade! So now, in my new fave format of 4 EASY STEPS, we have:
PRINT > CUT > GLUE > WAVEEEEEE
These are so easy, you could even volunteer to bring a batch for your child’s whole class! *GASP* I know! So get yourself some colored paper and pretty ribbon and make your child’s last day a special one!
Something to Note: The kids will definitely try to have a swordfight with these / attempt to stab the giant balloon you so carefully hand lettered. The flags are still incredibly cute, but you have been warned.
SUPPLY LIST
- 12 x 12 (for handwritten flags–each paper makes 2 flags) OR 8.5 x 11 (for printed flags) colored cardstock
- THIS PRINTABLE (if you’re not hand lettering!)
- Flag sticks (I used these extra long sticks from the cake decorating aisle)
- Multi colored ribbons – if you have lots of ribbon scraps lying around, that works great! If you don’t Hobby Lobby sells the cuuuuutest scrap packs!
- Printer (if printing)
- Hot Glue
Fold the 12 x 12 paper in half, corner to corner. Create a straight line across and cut into two triangles (if using the printed version, print out the flags you want on colored paper and cut out the large triangle)
Fold over about ½” of the paper to wrap around the stick
Handletter the front with your message! (Skip this if using the printed version)
Flip your flag over and cut the overhanging sides at an angle so they won’t show when you glue in the stick.
Glue in the stick.
Tie ribbon around the base and secure with hot glue
TA-FREAKIN-DA, you’re DONE! And they’re so so so cute!
We were created to be creative, friends—so get creating!
